Our Teams

The Direct Lending Group encompasses the Middle Market Lending, Late Stage Lending, Capital Markets, Sales & Trading and Workout teams.
Middle Market Lending

The Middle Market Lending team provides senior, one-stop and second lien loans to U.S. middle market companies. The team structures financing solutions with hold positions of up to $600 million. We also underwrite and syndicate senior credit facilities and a proprietary suite of GOLD (unitranche) facilities up to $1 billion. The Middle Market Lending team has specialty groups in four verticals:

  • Consumer, Restaurant and Retail
  • Diversified Industries
  • Healthcare
  • Software and Technology Services

The Middle Market Lending team has an outstanding track record of closing deals on time and at the agreed-upon terms, utilizing deep industry knowledge to identify, advise on and implement value creation strategies. Key responsibilities include origination and underwriting of loans. The group works closely with all areas of the Firm to ensure seamless execution.

Late Stage Lending
The Late Stage Lending team provides financing solutions to venture-backed, growth-equity technology companies. The solutions are customized to meet the growth thesis without extensive equity dilution. Late Stage Lending provides senior debt, subordinated debt and co-investment equity to companies achieving rapid revenue growth due to new services, increased adoption and/or entry into new markets. The Firm usually underwrites and holds the entire credit facility. Late Stage Lending works closely with all Firm departments to ensure seamless execution of all solutions.
Capital Markets
The Capital Markets team structures, syndicates, and executes transactions for middle market and upper middle market companies. Capital Markets provides a variety of customized first lien, mezzanine, second lien and/or unitranche financing solutions for private equity-backed borrowers. The team’s robust distribution capabilities expand from relationship-oriented middle market lenders consisting of banks, finance companies and broadly syndicated loan asset managers.
Sales & Trading
The Sales & Trading team is responsible for managing relationships with buyers of primary and secondary leveraged loans, identifying and executing secondary market opportunities and providing insight on underwriting and financial structures for LBOs, recapitalizations and refinancing for the Firm.
Workout
The Workout team is responsible for managing a portfolio of the Firm’s troubled investments, primarily senior secured debt (including one-stop loans), developing and implementing strategies for maximizing recoveries.

The Investor Partners Group encompasses Business Development, Investor Relations, Corporate Development, Product Specialist and Planning & Operations teams.
Business Development & Investor Relations
The Business Development & Investor Relations teams manage relationships with existing investors and develop relationships with new investors. They target consultants, large foreign and domestic institutions, wealth management firms, family offices and individuals. They oversee the investor experience, including the onboarding process, proactive updates and inbound inquiries. The teams collaborate closely with other departments to develop and execute fund-raising and investor service plans in line with Firm objectives.
Corporate Development
The Corporate Development team is responsible for planning and executing strategic initiatives for the Firm, with a focus on driving growth and profitability. The team collaborates with Firm leadership, the other Investor Partners Group teams and business unit leaders to plan and execute high-impact projects such as new fund launches, product extensions, capital raising opportunities, M&A, joint ventures and new product explorations.
Product Specialist
The Product Specialist team creates, updates and disseminates information, messaging and materials for investor communications initiatives, and assists Marketing in developing information, messaging and communications materials for other audiences. The team works with Firm leadership, the other Investor Partners Group teams, Direct Lending, Broadly Syndicated Loans, Structured Finance, Fund Accounting and Compliance to create and disseminate information that is timely, accurate, on-brand and on-message. In addition, the team assists Business Development in technical discussions with potential and current investors. The team also frequently develops and/or presents content for investor-oriented presentations, panels and speaking opportunities.
Planning & Operations
The Planning & Operations team is responsible for driving strategic planning and reporting, leading technology and data initiatives for the Investor Partners Group, providing analytic and operational support to the client-facing team and interfacing with Human Resources and Legal & Compliance. The group helps inform strategy across investor segments in conjunction with the Business Development & Investor Relations teams and develops key performance indicators to assess performance against goals. It is responsible for fund close processing, fund activity administration, and Investor Care Program administration. The team also drives the human capital agenda for the Investor Partners Group, including employee engagement initiatives, career development and performance management.

Golub Capital’s Broadly Syndicated Loan team curates well-diversified portfolios of high-quality, syndicated senior secured loans. The group purchases assets in the syndicated loan market that are structured, arranged and administered by large commercial or investment banks. Our team manages these investments primarily in a series of Collateralized Loan Obligations, Separately Managed Accounts and Opportunistic Credit Funds. The Broadly Syndicated Loan team works closely with all Firm departments to ensure effective analysis, portfolio management and reporting.
The Structured Products team structures borrowing solutions for our various funds and accounts. They organize securitization financings and Collateralized Loan Obligations (“CLOs”), and invest in other parties’ outstanding CLOs. The Structured Products team also arranges and reviews traditional borrowing arrangements. The team has significant experience structuring CLOs and traditional borrowing facility deals that are good for our underlying funds and accounts and also appeal to a broad base of top-tier lenders and securitization market participants. The Structured Products team works closely with various areas of the Firm to ensure seamless execution of transactions.

Change Management
The Change Management department is responsible for implementing strategically important new programs. We develop a systematic change management approach, build support, address resistance and ensure the right people at the Firm have the right knowledge and ability to implement the change.
Facilities and Administration
The Facilities department is responsible for space management and ensures that the Firm has the most suitable and safe working environment for its employees and their activities. The Administration department is involved in both strategic planning and day-to-day operations, keeping the office organized and running smoothly.
Fund Accounting and Tax
The Fund Accounting department is responsible for the financial and investor reporting associated with Golub Capital’s private investment funds and vehicles.
Human Resources
The Human Resources department is responsible for benefits administration, employee relations, performance management, training and development, recruiting, succession planning, and employee onboarding and offboarding.
Investor Communications
The Investor Communications group acts as the primary point of contact for investor reporting and ongoing account maintenance.
Legal & Compliance
The Legal & Compliance department is responsible for managing legal risk and providing attorney advice for each of the Firm’s functions. The department also manages the Firm’s regulatory profile under relevant securities laws.
Marketing
The Marketing department focuses on account-based marketing and sales support across all business lines and leverages a wide range of tactics to build recognition of Golub Capital as the premier firm in its markets among key stakeholders.
Operations
The Operations group is comprised of the Settlement and Funding and Portfolio Administration teams, each with distinct roles and responsibilities to ensure the data integrity of the investment portfolios.
Operational Risk Management
The Operational Risk Management department is responsible for the process, tools and approach needed to support and enhance the control environment required to minimize operational risks related to Golub Capital’s non-investment functions.
Strategic Accounting and Finance
The Strategic Accounting and Finance department is responsible for the financial reporting, forecasting and analytics of the Management Companies at Golub Capital.
Technology Solutions
The Technology Solutions department is responsible for designing and delivering state-of-the-art technology solutions that are designed to create efficiency, mitigate risk and grow revenue for the Firm.
Treasury
The Treasury department is responsible for the Firm’s overall cash management, allocation of investment opportunities and maintenance of third-party lines of credit.
